Responsibilities Summary: The Supervising Counselor supervises the activities and staff associated with providing substance abuse counseling within a facility. In addition, this position ensures that all services meet all contractual obligations. Conducts or assists in conducting individual and/or group counseling sessions and programs. Principle Duties & Responsibilities: Trains and develops staff on the mission, policies, short- and long-term objectives and conducts therapeutic community program training. Assists with the establishment of management strategic plans, policies, procedures, programmatic direction and standards. Monitors program staff and related program activities. Develops and maintains correctional contract professional relationships and attends any meetings or functions as required by the facility management. Conducts and documents clinical team meetings and staff meetings; schedules employees as per compliance and therapeutic community program training. Completes reports weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annually and annually as required. Monitors programming and services to ensure compliance of the program and licensing requirements. Disseminates internal policies and procedures. Monitors tracking and outcome questionnaire data to improve delivery of services and to establish overall effectiveness of program. Works as a team member with entire treatment and ancillary staff to promote consistent and coordinated efforts. Reviews clinical files and perform individual record audits for licensing compliance and required documentation to ensure delivery of services. Maintains client caseload and provide individual and group counseling as per the Correctional Recovery Program elements as well as perform Addiction Severity Index (ASI) Assessments. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Two (2) years of experience in a as an administrator or supervisor in a human services field. Hold clinical certification as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor from the Illinois Alcoholism and Other Drug Abuse Professional Certification Association (IAODAPCA), OR Be a licensed professional counselor or licensed clinical professional counselor pursuant to the Professional Counselor and Clinical Professional Counselor Licensing Act [225 ILCS 107]; OR Be a physician licensed to practice medicine in all its branches pursuant to the Medical Practice Act of 1987; OR Be licensed as a psychologist pursuant to the Clinical Psychology Practice Act [225ILCS 15]; OR Be licensed as a social worker or licensed clinical social worker pursuant to the Clinical Social Work and Social Work Practice Act [225 ILCS 20]; OR If permissible and upon approval of the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC), other clinical certifications that mirror one of the requirements above may be acceptable.
