The Superintendent of Maintenance Engineering plays a critical role in maintaining the performance, reliability, and compliance of high-precision equipment used in metals manufacturing for aerospace applications. This role leads a team of maintenance engineers and technicians responsible for ensuring continuous operation of specialized machinery, including furnaces, presses, CNCs, rolling mills, and metallurgical processing equipment. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, technical acumen, and a deep understanding of dynamic manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Supervision
+ Manage and lead a team of reliability, maintenance and Process Control and Automation engineers as well as instrumentation and calibration technicians supporting a 24/7 manufacturing facility.
+ Drive a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
+ Develop staffing plans, performance metrics, training programs, and career development paths.
Maintenance Strategy & Execution
+ Leverage preventive and predictive maintenance systems and programs to improve equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and extend asset life.
+ Coordinate with production, quality, and project/process engineering teams to support maintenance activities and operational priorities.
+ Lead root cause analyses and corrective actions for critical equipment failures.
Equipment Reliability & Technical Support
+ Provide technical leadership on complex equipment systems, including thermal processing, high-pressure forming, and metal cutting/machining.
+ Collaborate with engineering to improve equipment design, reliability, and maintainability.
+ Monitor and report on key maintenance KPIs.
Capital Projects & Asset Management
+ Support capital equipment selection, installation, and commissioning.
+ Manage budget and vendor relationships.
+ Champion reliability improvements and asset lifecycle management.
Continuous Improvement & Lean Practices
+ Lead and participate in Lean, Six Sigma, or TPM initiatives to improve maintenance efficiency.
+ Identify and eliminate waste in maintenance processes.
+ Foster innovation and use of emerging technologies like sensors, IIoT, and condition-based monitoring.
