Job Description
The SUE Technician / Analyst is responsible for marking underground utilities for survey and design purposes. The role requires expertise in using electromagnetic designating equipment and ground penetrating radar (GPR). Experience or the ability to learn to operate air/vacuum test holes equipment is necessary. Surveying and CAD experience are considered advantageous.
ResponsibilitiesAssist the assigned SUE Coordinator in daily operations of designating and locating sub-surface utilities.Operate, place, and connect remote signal generators to subject utilities.Load and unload equipment and place and remove traffic control signs and devices.Assist in the removal and replacement of utility manhole covers.Prepare field sketches and measure designated utility lines.Designate a variety of underground utilities using hand-held devices, GPR, utility maps, and plans.Assist in digging test holes using vacuum excavation.Provide information and assistance under the direct supervision of the SUE Coordinator.Essential SkillsMinimum of 2 years of SUE experience.Proficiency with GPR and land surveying equipment.Strong communication skills.Accurate documentation and data analysis abilities.Ability to work effectively within a team.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with surveying and CAD is a plus.Ability to travel frequently.Work Environment
The role requires working 100% in the field, with potential travel and overnight stays. The work environment is dynamic and involves outdoor activities, requiring adaptability and physical stamina.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $20.00/hr.
