Applications are continuously being accepted for this position and may be used to fill vacancies which may occur within the GST BOCES Region SUBSTITUTE REGISTERED NURSE: 10-Month School Calendar Position RN positions involve caring for the medical needs of students placed in BOCES classrooms which are located in a Special Education Host Site program. Assistance with all medical aspects of the students’ day is expected. + Plans for periodic examinations and screening procedures as required by State Law and Board of Education Policy. + Assists the School Physician with physical, visual, audio screening examinations of students and employees. + Administers first aid and emergency treatment to students and employees. + Performs medical procedures prescribed by doctors for students . + Appraises the mental and physical health status of pupils through observation and analysis of records on a continuing basis. + Assists in feeding and care of students with disabilities + Prepares, maintains and shares information on Cumulative Health Records with appropriate staff. + Arranges transportation of sick or injured students or employees to hospital or home. + Orders inventory and oversees the storage of first aid and related health supplies and equipment. + Assists the administrator in planning and maintaining a safe, healthful school environment, including the establishment and implementation of emergency care procedures. + Participates in the development of policies to improve and protect the health of students and school personnel. + Prepares records and reports as required. + Seeks professional development opportunities to further growth. + Carries out all other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications Civil Service Non-Competitive Classification Must possess a valid NYS Registered Professional Nurse Licensure; experience in working with disabled students is preferred.
