**Substation Structural Drafter (Hybrid)**
**Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities**
**POWER Engineers is currently seeking a Structural Drafter to work in the Power Delivery Substation Department in our Airdrie office.**
**Responsibilities**
+ The position involves drafting opportunities on substation projects that include foundations and structural steel detailing
+ The successful candidate will be responsible for learning, understanding, and implementing CAD knowledge and assisting others with understanding and following standards; learn client standards, practices, and procedures to ensure that work produced conforms to the client's standards and expectations; be responsible for knowing and following POWER's standards, procedures, and processes; collaborate on design issues; seek guidance from those with more experience
+ Occasionally, conduct site visits to gather design data and verify conditions.
**Required Education/Experience**
+ Technical diploma or certification in drafting from an accredited institution.
+ Knowledge of standard practices in concrete, rebar, and structural steel detailing.
+ Proficiency with AutoCAD 2020 and experience with MicroStation.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
+ Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
**Desired Education/Experience**
+ Associate’s degree in Drafting/Design or equivalent technical qualification.
+ 3–5 years of relevant drafting experience using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
+ Familiarity with Civil 3D, Inventor, or Revit is an asset.
+ Formal coursework or demonstrated experience in structural drafting, including shop drawing production.
+ Ability to generate structural steel and foundation plans, sections, and elevation views for substation design packages.
+ Experience preparing Bills of Materials.
+ Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
