Job Title: Substation EngineerJob Description This position is based in Oakland, CA, and requires frequent onsite presence. It is a W-2 contract role within the utilities, energy, and power systems industry. The role focuses on strategic planning, asset integration, and front-end implementation of substation projects. Responsibilities + Support long-term substation planning aligned with the Integrated Grid Planning framework. + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess substation capacity, reliability, and modernization needs. + Contribute to the development of substation strategies that support DER integration, electrification, and grid resilience. + Apply project management standards to ensure planning consistency and quality. + Participate in stakeholder meetings and provide technical input on substation planning scenarios. Essential Skills + Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred. + 5+ years of experience in substation engineering or planning. + Strong analytical, communication, and project coordination skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Prior experience with PG&E is strongly preferred. + Familiarity with PG&E standards. Work Environment The role may be remote, hybrid, or in-office, depending on project requirements and company policies. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $75.00/hr.
