**Description**
A Substation Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment and systems within electrical substations. They ensure the safe and efficient operation of power distribution systems by monitoring equipment, making necessary repairs, and maintaining key components like circuit breakers, transformers, and voltage regulators.
+ Work on energized conductors up to 500 volts
+ Install miscellaneous hardware, grounds, fittings during construction, buss supports, and conductors on dead circuits
+ Test electrical equipment and systems, identify malfunctions, and troubleshoot complex electrical problems.
+ Perform transmission and distribution switching
+ Rig, tie knots and splice rope
+ Assist qualified mechanic in simple routine inspection and maintenance
+ Assist in the installation of all types of conduit systems
+ Assist in the handling, moving and installation of all transmission, distribution and plant equipment, machinery, etc.
+ Filtering oil and minor repairs to transformers, oil circuit breakers, regulators
+ Prepare reports and records
+ Operate Company’s vehicles and equipment
+ Execute and complete all other duties assigned by supervisors
**Qualifications**
+ 7 years of experience working as a substation electrician or industrial electrician
+ Completion of an apprentice electrician's program or certificate of Journeyman Electrician status, OR, verified certificate of Journeyman Electrician status and a minimum of four years’ experience performing journey-level high voltage (4kV and above) substation electrician duties
+ Ability and willingness to travel to various Company locations and job sites.
+ Must be able to assess through Burns and McDonnell assessment program
