**Summary:**
Meta’s global network is built with cutting edge platforms and technologies and we are looking for a Submarine Cable Systems Engineer to join the backbone Optical Network Engineering team. This team is responsible for designing, building, and operating the world’s largest Optical network. Specifically, members of the Subsea engineering team lead the direction for all technical elements of our subsea cable build programs, from project definition through system manufacturing & system lay, to acceptance and operations. In this role, you will have a unique opportunity to shape the future of how we design the global subsea network at scale, guiding future roadmaps and driving new technology innovations.
**Required Skills:**
Submarine Cable Systems Engineer Responsibilities:
1. Work collaboratively with various internal teams to understand Meta’s network performance and growth requirements.
2. Lead system engineering for new and ongoing submarine cable projects including crafting of specifications for wet plant design, technology, system testing and system acceptance.
3. Conduct detailed reviews of technical contract specifications and deliverables covering the many multidisciplinary aspects of submarine cable engineering.
4. Supervision and acceptance of new product qualifications and ongoing system manufacturing completion, ensuring the subsea systems delivered to Meta are of the highest quality and reliability.
5. Provide engineering support for operations & maintenance activities of in-service systems.
**Minimum Qualifications:**

6. BA/BS or equivalent in technical related field
7. At least 6 years of submarine systems engineering experience

8. Technical knowledge of submarine system design including electrical, optical, and mechanical aspects of wet plant, PFE and OCI design coupled with an understanding of the overall system functionality and performance.
9. Experience in submarine cable construction activities.
10. Experience working with turnkey submarine system vendors.
11. Capacity to negotiate technical elements of contracts, with an analytical and results focused approach.
12. Familiarity of the relationship between submarine cable engineering and successful operations and maintenance, with experience in providing engineering support during operational phases.
13. Understanding of quality management systems and their importance in consistent delivery of defect free submarine cable systems.
14. Demonstrated examples of organizational, multitasking, prioritization skills, with an attention to detail.
