Requisition 202500292ST Title Student Worker- Academic & Research Technologies- Audio/Video (2 positions to fill) Employee Class Student Worker College Work Study Position No Department Academic & Research Technologies Division Information Technology Hours per week 15-28 Hiring Rate $10 Preferred Student Classification Freshman, Sophomore, Junior Nature & Purpose of Position PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES.Provides technical support and maintains audio/video devices and peripherals. Assists with installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all classroom hardware while ensuring optimal system performance.• With supervision, installs, configures, tests, maintains, and troubleshoots minor level 1 audio/video hardware and software.• Responds to service requests regarding hardware and software issues.• Maintains an accurate record of all requests for assistance.• Provides prompt and accurate information for requests of assistance while maintaining confidentiality.• Properly routes requests that need further escalation or attention from full time employees and/or supervisor.• Provides guidance and assistance to co-workers• Other duties as assigned. Other Requirements for the Position Must be able to work between 15-28 hours per week and will ideally be available Monday – Friday within the hours of 7 am – 10 pm. Several hours of on-the-job training will be required due to the extensiveness of Academic Research & Technologies’ support offerings; therefore, a learning curve is expected. The employee must be willing to accommodate varying situations in addition to possessing the following essential skills:• Good customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills• Team Oriented• Interpersonal Skills• Dependable• Willingness to learn and observe policies, procedures, and rules• Initiative• Technical skills and use of required technology• Familiarity of Windows and Mac operating systems• Familiarity of basic hand/power tools• Able to carry loads up to 50 lbs.• Comfortable working on ladders between 6-10ft.• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record preferred but not required

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be a current SHSU student enrolled in six (6) semester hours with a minimum SHSU GPA of 2.5. Must be able to demonstrate basic computer competencies and knowledge. Direct IT job experience, SHSU Lab Assistant experience, or customer service experience preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities would also be acceptable.
