Description of Work Unit
The Office for Inclusive Excellence leads initiatives to ensure Colorado State University meets our Land-grant mission of access and success. Position Summary
The Student Success Coordinator is a full-time, 12-month Administrative Professional position working in collaboration and programmatic support of all 7 Cultural Resource Centers, which are open and welcoming to all. In part, the Student Success Coordinator provides oversight and supervision of El Centro’s Peer Mentoring Program, La Conexión, as well direct support of students using El Centro’s resources. The Student Success Coordinator also provides critical support to El Centro’s Student Success Initiatives, focused on academic success, student retention, and student persistence. In addition, the Student Success Coordinator will have shared responsibilities with other Cultural Resource Centers related to events and programming.
The Student Success Coordinator supervises a minimum of 5-7 student staff, which includes recruiting, hiring, training, and evaluation of the staff. Knowledge of and experience with educational programming and college student success from an intersectional framework are two core components of this position since cross-Cultural Resource Center work is a portion of the position’s responsibilities. In addition, this position will actively embrace and role model Colorado State University’s Principles of Community (Inclusion, Integrity, Respect, Service, Social Justice).
The Student Success Coordinator reports to the Assistant Director for El Centro. Evening and weekend work hours depend on program and event offerings or to best meet the needs of students.
The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; the department will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
Travel expenses for interviews will be limited to a maximum of $500 per candidate.

Required Job Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree by start date.
+ Demonstrated understanding of the needs and concerns of Latinx/Latiné college students and their families from an intersectional lens.
+ 1 year experience with coordination, planning, and facilitation of educational programming for the Latinx/Latiné population or multiracial/multiethnic population.
Preferred Job Qualifications
+ Experience in a full-time professional role directly serving college students/young adults or master’s degree (in Student Affairs, Sociology, Social Work, Latinx/Hispanic/Chicanx Studies, Ethnic Studies, Women’s, Gender or Sexuality Studies or related field).
+ Experience leading or serving as a mentor in a mentoring program.
+ Experience supervising and/or training employees.
+ Experience with the development and/or implementation of student success initiatives (such as career development, academic coaching, tutoring, leadership development or similar programs) for college students/young adults.
+ Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining effective collaborative/team relationships with individuals and organizations across identities.
+ Experience creating digital or marketing content for social media and communications.
+ Proficiency in using spreadsheets, databases, data-tracking systems, etc.

+ Develop, lead and implement El Centro’s Peer Mentoring Program, La Conexión, a student retention program supporting 40-50 students.
+ Lead the skill development of the La Conexión peer mentoring team, ensuring the use of asset-based mentoring practices.
+ Assess and evaluate La Conexión, with a focus on university-defined student success markers such as graduation rates, retention rates, etc., ensuring the effective use of university case management systems and data management systems.
+ Work collaboratively with the Assistant Director and Director to implement student success strategies focused on retention, persistence, graduation and career development, including the assessment and evaluation of the identified strategies.
+ Build individual rapport with students with various identities and lived experiences, be able to maintain relationships with students over a period of time, and support students through sensitive, difficult, and complex concerns surrounding mental health, financial pressures, school/work/family obligations, all of which requires professional care, problem-solving, empathy, communication skills, and working closely with faculty, students, families, and community partners to help resolve multifaceted issues.

+ Supervise and coach a group of student staff (mentors), including hiring, weekly meetings, ongoing training/development, and semesterly evaluations.
+ Manage student mentors in maintaining accurate and detailed notes in databases/case management systems as part of the campus’ larger student success initiatives.
+ Help peer mentors determine appropriate resources and provide referrals when advising students how to navigate sensitive, difficult and complex concerns.
+ At times, help with the daily management of El Centro’s front desk/reception area by helping to ensure strong community engagement and adherence to university policies and procedures.

+ Work collaboratively with all Cultural Resource Centers to identify shared goals, shared programmatic outcomes, and, identify and manage competing priorities.
+ Work collaboratively with all Cultural Resource Centers to identify and manage necessary resources (personnel, volunteers, logistics, etc.) to facilitate events, workshops, and student-success initiatives (peer mentoring events).
+ Collaborate with, and oversee, student leaders or student staff from Centers to help plan, implement, and evaluate programmatic efforts using skill sets that center student voices and encourages students’ strengths.
+ Work collaboratively with all Cultural Resource Centers to make purchases and utilize allocated resources effectively.

+ Employ exceptionally strong administrative skills to ensure educational programs are well executed, marketed and effective. At times work collaboratively with the Assistant Director to implement large-scale programming such as National Latinx/é Heritage Month, El Centro’s End of Year Celebration, etc.
