Operating under the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research (SIEPR), the Stanford King Center catalyzes Stanford's distinctive strengths in global poverty and development research to turn path-breaking research into real-world results. To this end, the King Center supports research initiatives that unite Stanford faculty working on different areas of international development, including big data for development, governance and service delivery in Africa, conflict and polarization, and global productivity and economic growth. The King Center provides hands-on research and experiential learning opportunities for students eager to explore the challenges and opportunities of the developing world, and funds original student research. The center aims to help shape policy and practice by sharing insights from center-supported research. The center disseminates research by its affiliated scholars through events, digital media and policy notes and works to foster discussions about successes and challenges in poverty alleviation and global development. **POSITION SUMMARY:** The Stanford King Center on Global Development seeks a Student Services Specialist to provide administrative and operational support for our student and faculty programs, as well as assistance with our graduate student and faculty programs. In this role, you will be primarily assisting with our undergraduate research fellowship programs, as well as providing support to the center’s graduate student research grant and fellowship programs, and other existing and new faculty and student programs. As an important liaison between faculty members, students, and the King Center you will assist with program outreach to students and faculty, handle application processes, address questions and research responses, and administer surveys of participants in King Center programs. You will also update our website with new opportunities, maintain program tracking spreadsheets, review and update program documentation and forms, and collate data for the center’s annual report and grant proposals. As a tech-savvy, self-motivated team member, you will work with other highly motivated colleagues to accomplish tasks and projects. To apply, please include a cover letter and a resume in your application. **CORE DUTIES:** + Review documents and forms for completeness, track files for follow up and distribute for review. + Research and resolve routine issues, refer complex issues to other staff. + Input data, update electronic databases, web sites, literature, and associated materials. May collect, gather and validate data, prepare basic reports. + Coordinate logistics for outreach activities, meetings, and events. + Respond to routine inquiries from students, faculty, external constituents, and staff. + Serve as a subject matter resource to students and other departments. + Contribute to general office administration and process improvements. + May train and direct day-to-day activities of student and temporary workers. **MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:** **Education & Experience:** Associates degree and one year of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience. **Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:** + Strong written and verbal communication skills. + Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive products. + Strong customer service skills. + Basic office administration skills. + Ability to learn compliance with university policies and external regulations. **Certifications and Licenses:** None. **PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:** + Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks. + Frequently sit, sort, file paperwork or parts, grasp lightly, and use fine manipulation, lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh 10 pounds or less. + Occasionally write by hand, twist, bend, stoop, and squat. + Rarely stand, walk, reach, or work above shoulders and use a telephone. _* - Consistent with its obligations under the law, the University will provide reasonable accommodation to any employee with a disability who requires accommodation to perform the essential functions of the job._ **WORKING CONDITIONS:** This is a full-time, hybrid position with the expectation of working on-site at least 4 days a week. **WORK STANDARDS:** + Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrates the ability to work well with Stanford colleagues and clients and with external organizations. + Promote Culture of Safety: Demonstrates commitment to personal responsibility and value for safety; communicates safety concerns; uses and promotes safe behaviors based on training and lessons learned. + Subject to and expected to comply with all applicable University policies and procedures, including but not limited to the personnel policies and other policies found in the University’s Administrative Guide,http://adminguide.stanford.edu.
