Job Summary

The candidate will provide support to the Pilot Plant Manager as well as the Application Specialists in the Bakery, Bars and Confectionery Category and will be based in the Cape Town application facility. The candidate will require initiative, motivation, planning and prioritization skills with the ability to function under pressure and at times function autonomously.
The candidate should have a creative mindset with good problem solving and analytical skills, with good written and verbal communication.

Day to day tasks include:

Prepare raw materials based on recipe

Weighing of raw materials

Monitoring Shelf Life of raw materials and maintaining an active raw material base for application

Replenishing floor stock with material from the warehouse

Maintain raw material register

Perform baking trials of various baked goods/biscuits and confectionery items

Analysis of products using scientific equipment

Conduct shelf life trials on finished products

Prepare samples and tastings as required

Assist with customer presentations

Prepare samples for customers and shipping

Day to day administrative tasks

Independently maintain contacts with other departments required to fulfill daily tasks

Ensure the highest standards of hygiene are maintained within the pilot plant

Abide by the company Occupational Health and Safety responsibilities
