Student Engagement Manager
Position Summary

Located 45 minutes from the Nation’s Capital, nestled in a history-rich community of southern Maryland, The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) has been twice named in the top 150 community colleges by the Aspen Institute with academic programs in over 100 disciplines. The Student Engagement Manager coordinates the College’s first level of engagement for new and returning students, and the community. The manager will serve as the key Welcome Center support staff and work collaboratively with other college personnel to ensure that the information needs of constituents are met. This includes utilizing the college resources and referring students to appropriate departments and services. The manager will support special programs designed to support student success. The manager collaborates with college partners to ensure consistent engagement and completion messaging for our students and community members. 

Reports to: Student Engagement Coordinator

The hiring salary for this position will be from the min to mid-point of the salary range advertised. This position is open until filled.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

35 % Relationship Building and Management
Supervise Welcome/Information/Express desk staff for the campus, including temporary and student workers.Work and Manage Welcome Desk staff coverage and work with other SES departments to ensure student and community needs are met.Supervises remote staff to maintain contact center coverage. 10% Communication and Advocacy
Serve as the SES liaison in support of the Starfish system initiate and providing status and statistical reports weekly/monthly. Manage the material to be displayed on the TV monitors at each campus and coordinate with campus partners to upload material.Collect information from SES departments to send to Marketing for the HAWK Talk, and other communication including social media vehicles for students. Develop, distribute, and post the Student Engagement Calendar of events for monthly distribution.5% Research and Analysis
Maintain departmental database systems, to include student access, program impact, and vendor lists for various SES departments.   Assist SES Administration with data mining to determine activities/programs to improve services to students.35% Networking and Outreach
Provide first level advising to new and current students, as well as support for community and visitors to CSM.Assist Advisors and students with Student Planning Assist Students troubleshoot and navigate My learning and student planning - please addTriage Students before sending them to an advisor Schedule manager to ensure the cohesive transition of activities and information dissemination from first semester to second semester and from first year to second year based on best practices.Connects to Students (scheduling appointments and ACS’s virtual waiting room)Trains STE and ACS staff in Starfish, Calendar Manager and Student Planning15% Reporting and Documentation
Provide reporting to the STE Coordinator when needed. Document best practices and lessons from engagement initiatives.Coordinate ordering departmental supply for Student Engagement events and programs. Coordinate, in conjunction with SES Administration, the development and dissemination of surveys to assess student interests, needs, and trends.Additional Duties:
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Training

Required Education and Experience:
 Associate degree required and/or 3 years of relative experience
Preferred Education and Experience:
 Bachelor's degree  3 years of experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

Ability to promote a positive work experience for students after job placement through follow-up activities with students and employers.Ability to resolve customer issues/problems in a manner that exceeds client expectations.Ability to maintain accurate records of activities within approved database. Excellent verbal, written, and reporting communication skills.Demonstrate excellent work ethic and integrity.Ability to work autonomously and as a team member.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is mostly sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly.
