Posting Details Posting Information Requisition 202500251ST Title Student Employee-Health Center-Clinical Assistant Employee Class Student Employee College Work Study Position No Department Health Center Division Division of Student Affairs Hours per week 24 Hiring Rate 10.5 Preferred Student Classification Nature & Purpose of Position Supports the full-time Nursing and Medical Assistant team at the Student Health Center according to standard policy and procedures and provides delegated treatments according to accepted standards. Works only within scope of their licensing and certification.
Works under close supervision of the nursing supervisor and any supervision delegated by the nurse supervisor to other full time SHC medical staff.
Maintains patient and staff confidentiality in accordance with applicable Personal Health Information (PHI) laws and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations. Provides assistance and cares for sick and injured patients under direct supervision and delegation of the nursing supervisor or designated full time SHC staff. Assists nursing staff and/or the treating practitioner with physical examinations and minor procedures when necessary. Maintains supplies, equipment, and drugs as necessary. Maintains exam rooms between patient screenings. Performs other related duties as assigned.

| High School graduate or G.E.D equivalent. Completion of a Certified Medical Association (CMA) program from a school accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP) or by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) preferred. Successful completion of the Texas Nurse Aide Training program, and has passed the Texas Certified Nurse Aide state examination. Has a current license/certification of Medical Assisting.
Must be extremely accurate in following written and oral instructions regarding patient care. Must be able to communicate effectively with outside medical facilities, students, other university departments, and visitors. Must be familiar with and able to maintain infection control standards as set out in Universal Precautions protocols. Alertness and careful attention is required to prevent injury to self or others. Must have a positive attitude toward change, professional growth, and team work.. Must work within the scope of their certification and continue education as required. Work schedules may vary as required by the University Clinic.
