Job Summary

The Office of Holistic Excellence (OHE) in collaboration with Experience+ is seeking a creative and energetic individual to join our team as a Digital Storyteller. Digital storytelling is the process
of using multimedia systems to communicate a story or present an idea to an audience. This digital storyteller will work with students and other campus members to assist in developing, directing, and producing their stories and guiding, training and instructing them in digital storytelling. This position will draw upon artistry, creativity, and communication skills.

Responsibilities*Work with the co-directors of the Office of Holistic Excellence and other staff to learn the art of digital storytellingShadow current student digital storytellersCollaborate with students and other campus members to craft their digital storiesTrain, guide, and support students in the development of digital storytelling as part of course assignmentsWork individually and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment for ~4 hours per weekRequired Qualifications*Is currently enrolled as a University of Michigan-Dearborn Undergraduate StudentHas excellent oral and written communication skillsIs a creative and flexible thinkerInteracts effectively with othersResponds constructively to feedbackExhibits strong listening skillsDisplays an appreciation of the varied experiences and perspectives of othersDesired Qualifications*Ability to engage in the Storyteller position for at least two semestersVideo production/editingScriptwriting or general writing experienceAbility to implement the essentials of storytelling, including narrative curve, pacing, detail, and voice.Ability to integrate narrative, sound, and visuals into compelling short videos.Work-Study students are strongly encouraged to applyHow You'll Grow


Students in this position will develop enhanced communications skills, gain experience
organizing their ideas, asking questions, expressing opinions, and constructing narratives. They
will learn to create stories for an audience, and present their ideas and knowledge in a complete
way. Students will grow in the NACE Career Readiness Competencies of Communication,
Teamwork, and Technology among others.
