Appointment Type Full Time Regular Exempt/Non-Exempt Exempt General Function The Student Conduct Officer assists the Office of Student Conduct in the various elements of student and student organization conduct investigations and related procedures. The Student Conduct Officer reviews and investigates student and student organization conduct cases; holds conduct meetings and determines sanctions as necessary. Assists with programs and activities to promote and increase awareness regarding the Code of Student Rights & Responsibilities including the shared development and management of the Student Organization Conduct Process within the Office of Student Conduct.#LI-CP1 Description of Primary Duties 1. Investigates and adjudicates alleged violations of the Code of Student Rights & Responsibilities by individual students and student organizations.
2. Uses self-regulation to manage, organize, and prioritize a large caseload, and other assignments, to ensure timely resolution of complaints and projects.
3. Prepares documents and reports as necessary for investigations and other assignments.
4. Maintains professional and complete documentation and files.
5. Interview relevant parties, gather relevant information, prepares investigative reports to be used in case management, and serves as a partner to inter/national organizations when necessary.
6. Assists with the design, creation, and facilitation of events, educational programs, and outreach efforts to educate the University community on student conduct processes and the Code of Student Rights & Responsibilities.
7. Utilizes the student conduct database system to create and maintain student conduct files and assist in managing websites.
8. Participates in self-directed professional reading, develops professional contacts with colleagues, and attends professional development courses and trainings to ensure a full understanding of the legal requirements and best practices related to relevant compliance areas.
9. Participates in internal and external training as assigned.
10. Ensures the confidentiality of all student conduct records contained in the Office of Student Conduct by supervising the maintenance and security of such records.
11. Ensures that the University complies with federal mandates regarding student privacy by providing certification for agencies requesting student conduct information in accordance with FERPA.
12. Contributes to the overall success of the department and University by performing other duties as assigned by the Office of Student Conduct Director. Minimum Acceptable Qualifications Education: A bachelor’s degree is required. Earned graduate credit hours from an accredited college or university in an applicable area/field (e.g., the social sciences, counseling, human resources administration, student affairs) may substitute on a year-for-year bases for the required experience at a rate of twenty-four (24) earned graduate credit hours for one year of experience.

Experience: At least one year of full-time work experience in an applicable area/field that lends cross-over skills, or one year of investigatory experience, is required. Experience investigating is preferred. Experience developing and presenting educational and/or training materials is preferred.

Skills: Strong organizational, interpersonal, writing and speaking skills, and the ability to communicate effectively are required. Demonstrated ability to oversee and manage a caseload in a manner that ensures the prompt, effective, and equitable conclusion of such matters is required. Computer application skills (word processing, spreadsheet, file management) are required. Attention to detail, multi-tasking abilities, and the ability to be self-directed and meet deadlines while remaining focused and composed are required. Database management experience is preferred.
