The Structured Finance Manager (Associate) position offers an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team of seasoned professionals dedicated to investing in historic tax credit equity within commercial real estate projects. As part of Chase’s Commercial & Investment Bank (CIB) Community Development Banking Team, the role is integral to the national team managing the Historic Tax Credit portfolio. This platform is often paired with other business lines within the CIB, including affordable housing lending and new market tax credits, providing a varied and energetic atmosphere that demands keen attention to detail and flexibility.
This role will independently manage a dedicated portfolio of commercial real estate investments, serving as the primary point of contact with real estate sponsor teams alongside the Originations and Structured Finance teams. The position requires a strong understanding and command of multifamily underwriting and credit analysis, with a focus on asset and risk management within the commercial real estate historic tax credit portfolio.
Job Responsibilities:
Lead the credit analysis for new equity investment considerations by assessing project feasibility through thorough due diligence including but not limited to: the review and analysis of operating statements, rent schedules, market studies, appraisals, term sheets, debt terms, financial projections, construction documents, legal documents, and other third-party reports. Present the package for investment consideration and credit approval.Monitoring the investment’s construction progress and completion, lease-up, and stabilization. Perform ongoing Historic Tax Credit compliance and financial reporting collection and analysisParticipate in pre-closing client communication including meetings and/or calls, as well as manage post-closing client communication.Evaluate requests for capital contributions and collect expected investment returns.Proactively prepare strategies to resolve issues within the portfolio.Participate in new initiatives and ad hoc projects, and Build expertise in Historic Tax Credits, with potential exposure to other tax credit products such as Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) and New Market Tax Credits (NMTC).
