Note: Work schedule for this position will be Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Occasional weekends, holidays and evening hours may be required with schedule subject to change based on the needs of the campus. An essential function of this position will be to exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Successful candidate must be able to communicate verbally and be able to read and comprehend written directions on labels, machinery and in manuals, etc. Must be able to withstand work in all types of temperatures for long periods of time. Must be able to perform work at various locations of height. This position will also require constant or frequent climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling and reaching. You must be able to perform this level of physical exertion in order to be considered for this position.

Description of Job
This full-time position works in the Physical Plant at Northeastern Junior College and provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers. Primary duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Drywall installation and finishing, painting, wallcovering installation, base and ceiling tile installation, framing of walls. Building and installation of cabinets, shelving and countertops. Demolition of walls, structures, ceilings, cabinets, countertops, and floor tile. Determine framing layout and method of installation. Determine shelving size and proper backing in walls for shelving installation.
Maintain and repair doors/door hardware. Repair/replace door knobs and locks, Pin locks for new installation or replacement when keys are lost using Best key system, maintain key bank inventory, and make and provide keys as needed.
Repair windows, frames, and screens, and replace glass. Plumbing and electrical repairs not requiring a license and assist licensed trades as needed. Snow removal of sidewalks and entrances and move furniture as needed.
Position will utilize a computer to complete timesheets and leave requests, utilize Microsoft Office 365 to include Outlook to check calendar/email/voice mail for requests, and follow up with requests as needed; Word to create correspondence, etc. Position will operate state vehicles and must have a valid driver's license. Must be a team player and work well with others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience Only:
Four years of progressively responsible experience in the structural trades (locksmith, building maintenance trades including carpentry, plumbing, painting and electrical maintenance). Application must list specific experience related to this position. Must possess excellent customer service skills to include communicating with and responding to all levels of employees in a professional environment. Do not use "see resume" statements on application. Your application must be completed in its entirety describing your experience in order to be considered. (Part-time experience will be pro-rated)

Education and Experience:
Successful completion of a formalized apprenticeship program or higher level course work from an accredited, non-correspondence, vocational or trades school in Construction Technology or Property Maintenance may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. A copy of your transcripts must be submitted with your application prior to the application deadline in order to be considered.
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledgeable in building codes. Experience installing drop ceilings. Ability to finish drywall to a grade 5 level. Experience operating automated HVAC programs such as Honeywell, Alerton, Johnson and Trane controls. Lead paint awareness. Experience reading blueprints. Well rounded individual able to switch from one trade to another with ease. Planning and organizing skills. Team player. Ability to multitask and be a self-starter.
Necessary Special Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to independently drive company vehicles and equipment around the campus, pick up parts, etc. Must submit to and successfully complete a pre-employment background check to include a motor vehicle report (MVR) as a condition of hire. Must be willing to work before or after normal business hours if requested and overtime as needed. Felony convictions or conviction of crimes of moral turpitude or convictions of misdemeanors related to job duties may disqualify you from consideration for this position. Should your background check reveal any charges and convictions, it is your responsibility to provide NJC Office of Human Resources with an official disposition of the charges. An essential function of this position requires exertion of up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects (i.e. lifting trash, pushing cleaning equipment, moving furniture, etc.).
