As a **Structural Stick Welder** for our **CP Chem Project in Orange, Texas** , you will contribute to our team by:
Experience:
• Experience working as Structural Stick, or Pipe Stick Welder, in an industrial construction environment (e.g., petrochemical, power plant, refinery) with four or more years of experience.
• Has achieved a competent level of working knowledge in welding structural steel.
• Can demonstrate and apply methods and techniques used to level, plumb, align, and install steel and pipe components.
• Has achieved a competent level of understanding of metallurgical properties involving the chemical composition of a vast array of metals, material strengths, including alloys, and understands the effects of heat transfer rates, thermal expansions.
Skills:
• Able to effectively use verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to read and understand safety instructions, signs, labels, and permits in English.
• Able to successfully complete applicable site-specific training.
• Successfully complete the appropriate PCL skills assessment tests.
• Able to use torch cutting equipment as well as pipe cutting/beveling machines.
• Has a competent level of understanding of rigging skills and procedures, OSHA standards, and their safe application when moving and installing large and heavy metal components.
• Able to read and understand plans and specifications including orthographic and isometric drawings.
• Competent knowledge and understanding of metallurgy and the materials used in welding processes ensuring the proper pre-heating for cutting or welding.
• Competent knowledge of the welding codes and their application to the work.
• Able to read, understand and follow weld procedures.
• Able to weld in various positions, e.g., 2G, 3G, 4G, and all qualified.
• Able to weld with dual/different processes.
• Able to pass the welding test established for each project in conformance with specifications and/or welding procedure(s).
• Able to complete welds in a consistent and timely manner.
• Able to perform all welding duties in conformance with project specifications and code criteria.
• Successfully complete the applicable PCL skills assessment tests.
