Structural Inspection Team Leader – Bridges and Sign Structures
WSP is currently initiating a search for a **Structural Inspection Team Leader – Bridges and Sign Structures** for our **Chicago, IL** office! **Duties and Responsibilities** + Lead field inspections as Structural Inspection Team Leader + Bridge Inspections – Element Level, Fracture Critical, Damage/Special, Supplemental, Routine (as needed) + Sign Structure Inspections – all types + Structural Wall Inspections – retaining walls, noise abatement walls, sight screen walls + Support for Facilities, Roadway, Culverts, Asset Recovery, etc. + Coordinate with Tollway Maintenance and Sign Shop to ensure efficient use of Lift Trucks + Elliot Straight Boom Trucks (RE-24, RE-21, RE-23) + Scissor Lift Truck (RE-10) and/or Bucket Vans (TR-9) + Plan and develop Annual List of Sign Structures to ensure System inspected every 4 years + Ensure Poor Structures are inspected annually + Ensure Fracture Critical and Structure with Certain Issues are monitored every 2 years + Ensure new inventory is added to System Data and inspected before Surety Expires + Support structural aspects of the Illinois Tollway system including design reviews, systemwide projects, construction walk-throughs, manual updates, special issues, specifications, standard drawings, load rating and asset management (capital program). + Mentor staff in their technical and professional development for future growth. If this sounds like a fit for you, we’d love to have that first discussion with you joining our team. **Required Qualifications** + Desire to bring innovative solutions to the Illinois Tollway. + Strong interpersonal communication skills. + Ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary project teams. + Ability to work in varying field conditions (heights, in lifts, through vegetation, culverts, etc.) + 3+ years experience in bridge inspection, bridge design/management 1. Minimum of 2 years as IDOT certified Bridge Inspection Team Leader 2. Minimum of 25 signed Bridge Inspection Reports + Certification as NBIS Bridge Inspection Leader with 1. Element Level Inspection and Fracture Critical training + Bachelor’s degree in engineering. **Preferred Qualifications** + Experience with weld details and inspection, including: 1. Overhead Sign Structures and/or Fracture Critical Bridges + Asset Management and Capital Program Experience, especially with Toll Facilities + Complex structures experience + Familiarity with Illinois Tollway and DOT standards + Illinois P.E. registration or the ability to obtain in 3 months WSP Benefits: WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employee’s career. Compensation: Expected Salary (all locations): $85,000 - $125,000 WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
