Structural Engineers (Junior/Mid-Level) - REMOTE

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing firm, and we are recruiting for Junior and Mid-Level Structural Engineers for a pioneering nuclear energy organization focused on advanced small modular reactor (SMR) technology.

These direct hire positions offer the opportunity to support high-level structural analysis efforts that directly contribute to the future of clean energy. The role is fully remote within the contiguous United States, with limited travel as needed.


Annual Base Salary Junior Engineer: $115,000-122,000
Annual Base Salary Mid-Level Engineer: $130,000-140,000
Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship is required

Position Summary:
The Structural Engineer (Analysis) applies deep technical knowledge in structural mechanics, dynamics, and seismic design to perform critical analyses on Nuclear Safety-Related and Non-Safety-Related structures. Concrete and steel structural design and analysis are the primary focus areas of this role.

Expertise in ANSYS is highly desired, and nuclear industry experience is a significant bonus. The position involves finite element modeling, seismic evaluations, and detailed technical documentation in compliance with nuclear regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform structural analyses using both linear and nonlinear methodologies for concrete, steel, and foundation systems.

Conduct finite element modeling and simulation using ANSYS software (additional experience with SAP2000 and SASSI is a plus).

Prepare high-quality structural documentation including design reports, calculations, and specifications.

Apply relevant codes and standards such as ASCE 4, ASCE 43, ACI 318/349, ASCE 7, AISC N690, and IBC.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure fully integrated engineering solutions.

Support regulatory and contractor communications through detailed technical analysis and documentation.

Ensure compliance with 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and ASME NQA-1 quality assurance requirements.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering is required (Master’s preferred). Junior Engineer: 2+ years of structural analysis experience; nuclear project background is a major plus. Mid-Level Engineer: 5+ years of structural analysis experience; nuclear project background is a major plus. Strong background in concrete and steel structure design and analysis, with emphasis on safety-critical systems. Proficiency with structural FEA tools; ANSYS is highly desired. Familiarity with nuclear regulatory design codes and standards. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Must be eligible to work under DOE 10 CFR Part 810. Preferred Qualifications:
Mid-Level Engineer: Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred.

Programming experience with Python or MATLAB is a plus.

Experience supporting seismic/dynamic evaluations of structural systems.

Ability to manage complex projects and multiple deliverables in a regulated environment.
