Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Structural Engineer/Project Manager to join our team in our Virginia Beach, VA office. This individual will serve as a leader within the team, overseeing multiple projects, managing key deliverables, and maintaining strong client relationships. As a Structural Engineer, the appropriately qualified applicant will be part of a team responsible for the design of small to large-scale Ports & Marine projects:

Conduct/manage engineering structural design as the supervisor or lead structural engineerCreate or review designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawingsCollects and analyzes dataUse computer software as a tool for solving basic and complex engineering problemsPerform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and scheduleMentor junior staffDevelop and implement innovative structural solutions for complex marine projectsEnsure compliance with local, state, and federal building codes and regulationsCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate structural designs with other engineering disciplinesManages one or more complex projects involving a full spectrum of engineering services offered by AECOMProvides project and technical task management for one or more simultaneous projectsIdentifies problems, determines accuracy and relevance of information, uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and makes recommendationsClient Relationships: Ability to assist in developing new client relationships and to strengthen existing client relationships. Ability to identify, understand and focus on clients' key requirementsTeam leadership: good team leadership skills. Self-starter, energetic, pro-activeDevelop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveryConduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for project executionCoordinate with contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project implementationPrepare and deliver project status reports to senior management and clients

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

BS in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or Maritime Engineering with 10 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or educationProfessional Engineer License with the ability to attain reciprocity in Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland, or Pennsylvania within 6 months of hireDue to the projects associated with the position a US Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous marine structural design experienceExperience leading/ managing structural design projectsExperience with computer aided design (AutoCAD)Previous experience in leading projects meeting required quality, timeliness, and budget parametersProject Management experience in marine terminal related infrastructurePrevious experience in maintaining client relationshipsExperienced in planning, design, and construction managementPrevious experience with Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) planning and design
