Structural Design Engineers (Nuclear Power)

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing firm, and we are recruiting for Structural Design Engineers to support a cutting-edge nuclear power organization focused on advanced small modular reactor (SMR) technology.
These direct hire roles offer the ability to work fully remote with an estimated 5-10% travel throughout the United States. A bachelor’s degree in civil/structural Engineering is required. An advanced degree is preferred.
Annual Base Salary (Junior): $115,000 - $122,000
Annual Base Salary (Mid-Level): $130,000 - $150,000
Annual Base Salary (Senior): $150,000 - $170,000
Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship is required.
Eligibility: Must be eligible to work under DOE 10 CFR Part 810
Responsibilities: Design Nuclear Safety-Related and Non-Safety-Related structures including post-processing analytical results and designing structures for various material types (concrete, steel, etc.). Interacts with other engineering disciplines to allow effective coordination of design activities and resolution of technical problems. Helps to develop and review requirements documents, methodology documents, calculations, specifications, design reports, and studies. Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience (Junior): 2+ years of experience in design of structures, including concrete and steel. Proficiency with design software and finite element method analyses (ANSYS, LS-DYNA, and SAP2000 preferred).
Experience (Mid-Level): 5+ years of experience in design of structures, including concrete and steel. Proficiency with design software and finite element method analyses (ANSYS, LS-DYNA, and SAP2000 preferred).
Experience (Senior): 8+ years of experience in design of structures, including concrete and steel. Proficiency with ANSYS finite element analysis software is required. Additional experience LS-DYNA, or SAP2000 is preferred.
General Qualifications: Demonstrated proficiency in working with the following codes: ASCE 43, ASCE 4, ACI 349 & 318, ASCE 7, IBC, and AISC N690, Steel Construction Manual and Seismic Design Manual. Proficiency with computer programing skills (Matlab, or Python) preferred. Possess a basic understanding of engineering concepts, principles, theories, and practices of related fields to function on multi-disciplinary teams. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to include in-person and web-based presentations, technical writing, and interpersonal relations. Display a high degree of organization and time management skills and ability to manage complex projects with multiple work phases.
