Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Structural Analysis Engineer / Principal Structural Analysis Engineer. This position is located in Clearfield, UT and will support a 3/12 shift (12-hour shifts, Friday - Sunday).
The successful candidate will be part of a team that provides MRB analysis to support repair and design solutions of flight hardware. You will be a part of an Integrated Product Team supporting production and new product designs that maximize the use of metallic and composite materials for state of the art commercial and military programs. We collaborate with internal engineering teams and departments to address and resolve issues and ensure the on-time delivery of structures and assemblies to our customers. Essential Functions:
Provides stress analysis to support dispositions of flight hardwareCandidate will substantiate repairs for discrepant parts and assemblies fabricated from composite materials.Strong communication and collaboration skills are a must. Knowledge of metallic or composite primary and secondary aircraft structures or subsystems.Performs finite element modeling of metallic and composite material componentsStatic, fatigue, dynamics, damage tolerance and other structural analysis methods are highly desirableNorthrop Grumman provides a comprehensive suite of benefits, and we have won awards for our work-life balance! This role may be filled at either the Structural Analysis Engineer / Principal Structural Analysis Engineer level based on the qualifications below.
Structural Analysis Engineer:
Bachelor’s Degree in STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) with 2 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM field.Experience with composite and metallic materials including allowablesExperience with finite element analysisMust have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance. This clearance must be obtained prior to start and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance. This SAP must be obtained prior to start and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.Principal Structural Analysis Engineer:
Bachelor’s Degree in STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) with 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM field with 2 years of related experience; OR a PhD in a STEM field with 0 years of experience.Experience with composite and metallic materials including allowablesExperience with finite element analysisMust have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance. Practical understanding of composite structuresExperience with structural repair for composite and metallic structuresExperience with finite element software such as Femap, Nastran, Abaqus.General understanding of Aerospace practices, policies, and proceduresDetail orientated, self-starter, ability to work both independently and in a team environmentExperience with material allowable databaseExperience leading engineers in structural analysisActive DoD Secret clearanceSalary Range: $77,200.00 - $115,800.00Salary Range 2: $95,300.00 - $142,900.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
