ROLE PURPOSE
To perform stress activities, carrying out challenging analysis and calculations on a wide range of state of the art aerospace components. The role offers opportunities for developing skills, knowledge and experience in this exciting industry.
The Stress Team delivers engineering solutions for the customer’s specialist component areas. This role requires a broad knowledge of a range of engineering commodities within gas turbines and/or other aerospace projects and the ability to understand and assess the mechanical integrity of the components under analysis.
JOB REQUIREMENT:
Stress experience on aero gas turbine or naval marine commodities is preferred.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
Delivering design solutions by carrying out structural & thermal analysis of aero engine and/or naval marine componentsLinear/Nonlinear stress analysis of rotating/static components.Ensure stress reports meet the appropriate levels of quality and robustness and confirm that defined requirements are metEnsure that all project stakeholders have the right information at the right time, through pro-active communicationSupport other team members with ongoing/future work packagesBaseline Responsibilities
Technical support and execution for all stress/lifing activities such as: Application of Vibration (Campbell Diagram) analysis, creep analysisApplication of Low cycle fatigue (LCF), High cycle fatigue (HCF), creep, corrosion, erosion and crack propagation assessment of rotating machineryDamage and Tolerance/Melt anomaly methodsSupport thermo-mechanical solutionsContribute to development of best practices and productivity improvementsWork Experience
Experience
Applicants should have a proven background in gas turbines or naval marine applications at component level.
Ability to:
Quickly understand problems, set prioritiesActively lead various tasks and issues while continuously working towards improvementsDrive technical delivery, through adherence to a number of key processes (safety, concessions, lifing, etc.)Understand complex system interactionsInterpret technical analysis, draw out key issues and present to project for review.Develop technical solutions, compliant with requirements, and make technical recommendationsDevelop solutions, based on experience, in new product designsKnowledge
Demonstrate a good understanding of all aspects of aero engine or naval marine componentsUnderstand the Safety Process for in-service enginesUnderstand the behaviour and limitations of aerospace materialsUnderstand component lifing strategies and limitationsKnowledge on system behaviour under impact loadingKnowledge of composite failure & analysis methodsTool Knowledge:
