European Strategic Sourcing position is a key position within EcoWater Europe’s organization. In view of the expanding scope of our European plant for finished goods assembly and spare parts management, the Strategic Sourcing Manager will be the engine to actively search and technically review (new) external suppliers to support the efficiency and flexibility of our sourcing of thermo-plastic as well as electronic and other components, parts and/or subassemblies.
This role oversees the set-up of the technical specifications for the issuing of RFQ,s and the external search for suitable vendors on the international (even global) market that can meet our continuously evolving needs of the assembly plant. Once identified the role implies the coordination of chosen sourcing projects with the selected vendors with the aim to come to a streamlined supply of quality materials and/or services matching our assembly line needs. You are also in continuous contact with our North American and Asian sourcing partners from our sister companies.
Positioning of this Function:
As the Strategic Sourcing Management role has a Pan-European scope, this function will have a direct reporting line into the Vice President of Operations of EcoWater Europe.
You will be part of the European Assembly Plant Management Team and you will manage a team of 2 persons, Strategic Sourcing Lead and Buyer. You interact on a daily base with the Operations, Technical, Logistics, Spare Parts and Finance Manager.
Overall Responsibilities:
Identify, evaluate and recommend qualitative sources in Europe (or for current components from US and AsiaDevelops our sourcing network of existing materials, components, sub-assemblies and electronics.Consult, evaluate and select new suppliers and service providers thereby coordinating:Determination of technical and commercial requirementsIssuing formatted RFQ’s and obtaining qualified offersNegotiating SLA contracts and cooperation rulesPrepare and place purchase orders for new tooling, components and samplesMonitor and report upon, as required, supplier progressCultivate process and technology improvements from existing and potential suppliersActively participates on cross functional project teamsAnalysis of the procurement marketWork with global buyer / sourcing manager (e. g. Juan or others as applicable)Collaboration with other departments such quality, product management, accounting, purchasing and engineering etc.Applies statistical & analytical methods to ensure objective decison making.Qualifications, Skills, Competencies:
Bachelor degree in engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 5 years of (technical) purchasing management experienceCertification in Lean Manufacturing or similar discipline is a plusExperience with project management and problem solvingGood understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts of production processes Technical knowledge on the processing of thermoplastics and electronic componentsAbility to handle multiple tasks simultaneously Experience in the management of a small teamExperience with interpreting mechanical / electrical drawingsExcellent data analysis skills, and proficient in the use of statistical tools in problem solvingComputer skills: working knowledge with Microsoft Office software such as Word and ExcelLanguage Skills
Apart from Polish, fluent English language skills are required as our sourcing partners are situated around the globe.
Skilled to analyze and interpret general business information, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and from customers.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
