Strategic Negotiator, Power Infrastructure, Planning and Development

As Google's products and services scale the globe, the Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Google's future -- everything from underwater cables to physical data center space. As a Strategic Negotiator, you combine your deep market knowledge of a given sector with tech industry savvy to negotiate cost-effective solutions to support Google's infrastructure growth. You'll work with specific project teams on discussing agreements, managing vendor and partner relationships and presenting agreement recommendations to our leadership. Your successful negotiations have the potential to save Google money in operating costs and impact every part of the business. In this role, you will work across our EMEA portfolio to optimize Data Center energy supply and transmission capacity with innovative technical projects, partnerships and transactions. You will work in partnership with stakeholders across Energy and Location Strategy (ELS), as well as other teams within Technical Infrastructure, Finance, and Legal. This is a dynamic role, working closely with a worldwide network of internal stakeholders as well as strategic external partners to support the growth of Google Data Center’s Clean Energy & Power infrastructure portfolio. + Support site specific energy supply growth efforts and data center interconnection strategy and execution in partnership with local utilities and Transmission System Operators (TSOs). + Develop business cases for new power generation resources (either on, near, or offsite), transmission system expansion, and other novel approaches of capacity delivery for new large loads. + Work with execution teams across the organization, translate grid operators’ technical requirements into project and future product requirements (e.g. on-site battery energy storage solutions) to guide new site selection efforts and unblock paths to grid capacity. + Collaborate with TSO and other stakeholders on transmission expansion plans by leading independent modeling of transmission needs and constraints search of alternative solutions to mitigate grid constraints, and assess regional resource adequacy roadmaps. + Optimize existing and develop new transmission infrastructure for system reliability and security of power supply.
