Strategic Buyer – Commodity Management Support

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Strategic Buyer to join our Commodity Management team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing material requirements planning (MRP) through SAP, placing purchase orders with internal and external vendors, and ensuring timely and accurate delivery of materials to support production needs. Strong cross-functional team building and problem-solving skills are essential to understand and achieve the overall goal.

This role will be Hybrid in the Raleigh, NC location.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage MRP via SAP and place purchase orders with internal and external vendors. Collaborate with production and planning teams to ensure timely delivery of materials; report any backorders or missing items promptly. Review and maintain SAP master data including minimum order quantities, safety stocks, lead times, and purchasing info records. Provide forecasting support and analyze large datasets to develop sourcing strategies by component and supplier (Plan for Every Part). Create and maintain supplier performance reporting. Drive inventory optimization, delivery reliability, and cost-saving initiatives. Resolve GRIR (Goods Receipt/Invoice Receipt) discrepancies and ensure timely processing of purchase orders. Support supplier onboarding through Siemens GMDM/GBS system, ensuring all vendor data and documentation are accurately captured and compliant with internal processes. Create and manage purchase orders that support Siemens Supplier PPAPs (Production Part Approval Process) to ensure compliance with quality and production standards. Support R&D purchasing requirements for testing, product support, development, and equipment.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline; advanced degrees or equivalent work experience will also be considered. 3–5 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment using an MRP system. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.

Preferred Skills:

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and collaboration abilities. Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems. Familiarity with supply chain forecasting, inventory management, and quality assurance processes such as PPAP. Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and contribute to a collaborative, supportive workplace culture. Self-starter with a proactive mindset and a strong desire for continuous learning and professional growth

The pay range for this position is $60,340 – $103,440. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
