The Strategic Account Executive is responsible for client growth / retention and client satisfaction, renewal of existing contracts and up-selling of appropriate services to clients. The Strategic Account Executive manages ongoing client relationships for an assigned book of business and serves as a client-centric, client-facing resource and lead point of contact. The Strategic Account Executive represents clients internally as an advocate and coordinates with other functional areas within the company to support the implementation of client initiatives, complete projects and address strategic needs. This individual may also work closely with sales on prospective clients and RFP responses.

Primary Responsibilities:
Act as outward-facing, dedicated resource for assigned accounts, typically with direct client contact (not call center) and large or complex accountsManagement of book of businessServe as a lead point of contact for all client account management mattersSecure renewal and upselling programsImplement and adhere to client contract / amendmentsDevelop new business with existing clients and/or identify areas of improvement to meet yearly goalsAssist with challenging client requests or issue escalations as neededBuild relationships with clients (not individual members) and partners with an Optum Rx Account Manager for overall and day-to-dayAnticipates customer needs and proactively develops solutions to meet themServes as a key resource on complex and/or critical issuesSolves complex problems and develops innovative solutionsPerforms complex conceptual analyses and provides explanations and information to othersLead or contribute to the development of program or project scope statements, in consultation with applicable stakeholdersEnsure alignment and understanding of program/project scope and objectives with the organization's strategic objectives with the account management team and applicable stakeholdersRaise awareness of any misalignment or misunderstanding of project scope and objectives with applicable stakeholdersEnsure that all impacted areas are identified, and that appropriate resources are engaged to participate in the scope definition processMonitor scope requirements and identify scope-related gaps and issuesDemonstrates expertise in pharmacy benefit strategies and OptumRx programsDemonstrates a high degree of client focus and attention to serviceForecasts and plans resource requirementsMay lead functional or segment teams or projectsMotivates and inspires other team membersLead Quarterly Trend Reporting associated activities with an understanding of data, performance trends, and financialsAbility to develop, negotiate, analyze, interpret, and implement SOPs and reportingRecognizes cost avoidance opportunities and offers solutionsManage 1/1 readiness activities: progress reports

Required Qualifications:
2+ years of relationship management experienceExperience reading, interpreting and negotiating contract termsClient-facing presentation experienceProven experience developing written content for executive summariesAdvanced understanding of the PBM/pharmacy industryProven ability to accommodate east coast time zone business needsProven solid oral and written communication
Preferred Qualifications:

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $89,900 to $160,600 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
