Must serve a 365-day (1 year) service term

Living Allowance: $68.39/day ($24,962.35/year)

 

Purpose:

This is an AmeriCorps Program committed to advancing energy efficiency and conservation within the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation in Montana. Through service with People's Partner for Community Development, a Native-led non-profit organization, the program supports community-led efforts to reduce energy consumption and costs while honoring the land, cultural history, and traditional values of the Northern Cheyenne people. Rooted in the principles of self-sufficiency, self-determination, and sustainability, the program fosters economic development and enhances the quality of life through environmental stewardship and education.

This AmeriCorps Position will support community members and stakeholders in identifying and implementing energy-saving initiatives. The member will assist in developing and managing energy efficiency programs, delivering conservation training, evaluating program effectiveness, and staying informed on best practices in the field. Through their service, the member will play a vital role in protecting the community’s future and advancing the mission of economic and environmental resilience.

 

The AmeriCorps VISTA member will build capacity and develop sustainable solutions to alleviate poverty in underserved communities.

 

Description of Duties:

As an AmeriCorps member serving with People’s Partner for Community Development, you will play an important role in helping the community save energy and lower utility costs. You will:

·        Help plan and develop energy efficiency programs that fit the needs of the Northern Cheyenne community.

·        Work closely with your supervisor and team to organize and carry out energy-saving projects.

·        Meet with local stakeholders (like community members, businesses, and tribal leaders) to understand their energy needs and suggest solutions.

·        Create and lead training sessions to teach people how to save energy at home or at work.

·        Track the results of the programs and make improvements when needed.

·        Research new ideas and technologies in energy conservation and share what you learn with the team.

Through this service, you’ll gain real world experience in community development, environmental sustainability, and program coordination—while making a major difference in the lives of others.

 

Qualifications:

·                  United States citizen, United States national, or a lawful permanent resident alien

·                  At least 18 years of age

·                  College graduate

·                  Agrees to provide information to establish eligibility and to complete a National Service Criminal History Check

 

Physical Requirements:

Time Requirements:

·                  Typically, this position is expected to serve full-time (35-40 hours) from 7/14/25 to 7/13/26, but exact schedules may vary.

·                 Member may be required to participate in national, state, or local service projects or events as part of their service term.

 

Orientation and Training:

·       Member will receive an orientation that includes training on AmeriCorps prohibited and unallowable activities.

·       Member will receive a Virtual Member Orientation (VMO) from VISTA on their first day of service.

Evaluation and Reporting:

As an AmeriCorps VISTA member, performance will be evaluated on whether the member has completed their required year of service; the member has satisfactorily completed assignments; and if the member has met other performance criteria that were clearly communicated at the beginning of the term of service.

Reporting requirements include, but are not limited to, bi-weekly timesheets, accomplishment tracking, and quarterly reporting.
