Major Responsibilities:
Transports case carts, custom packs and instrument trays to the Operating Room, SPD and throughout the medical center.
1) Transports case carts to and from the operating room in a timely manner and retrieve requests for trasnport.
2)Ensures that case carts are transported with all necessary instrument trays and packs to ensure patient safety.
3)Informs departments in a timely manner of delays and cancellations and the reasons for delays/cancellations
4)Keeps daily statistics on transporter sheet as assigned by coordinator.
5)Communicates patient needs or issues to Operating Room staff, Coordinator/SPD Liasion and all appropriate staff.

Make Routine Rounds of Operating Room and Sterile Processing for return case carts and instrument trays. (Instrument trays are stored in multiple locations in the Operating Room).
Perform Routine Rounds throughout the Hospital, picking up unused sterile Instrument Trays scanning and returning them to Sterile Processings Sterile Storage Area.
Must adhere to the policies and procedures of the Sterile Processing Department and Operating Room.
Observe proper safety techniques, practices and processes and report any variances to the proper personel immediately.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent. - 6 months to one year experience as a transporter
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Good interpersonal and communication skills - Knowledge of operating departmental equipment - Excellent Customer Service skills - Skills with various Age groups. - Ability to read and write English.
- Basic computer knowledge and skills.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to maneuver and operate trasnport equipment.
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
