This position requires strict adherence to infection control protocols and sterilization standards using both automated and manual processes. Key responsibilities include: + Decontamination of biohazardous materials following infection control and safety guidelines + Detailed visual inspection and proper assembly of surgical instrument kits + Operating sterilizers (steam, ethylene oxide, low-temperature gas plasma) according to policy and manufacturer instructions + Accurate documentation and monitoring of sterilization parameters, including biological and chemical indicators + Maintaining quality assurance standards to provide sterile, properly assembled instruments and case carts for surgeries + Prioritizing workload effectively in a fast-paced environment + Collaborating with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals + Keeping work areas clean and organized + Inspecting sterile goods for package integrity and expiration + Performing clerical duties related to documentation and record-keeping **Qualifications** Baystate Health offers a career ladder within the Sterile Processing department.
