You will be responsible for the complete lifecycle of mechanical steering components, ensuring all designs meet cost, weight, and functional targets. You will lead the implementation of functional and durability requirements, conduct FMEAs, and manage supplier activities to meet program milestones. Additional responsibilities include authoring engineering specifications, executing validation test plans, leading issue investigations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal system performance and vehicle integration.

Minimum
BS Engineering- Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering or strongly related discipline 5+ Years - Prior Design and release experience in automotive Chassis Systems with proven track record of successful program delivery 2 years of experience leading cross-functional teams in a project management capacity, with responsibility for delivering project milestones on schedule. 2 years experience leading the full cycle of a formal problem-solving methodology (e.g., 8D, Fishbone, 5 Whys) from problem definition to root cause identification and implementation of permanent corrective actions.

What you'll do…
Leads delivery of new mechanical Steering component designs including, cost, quality, weight, and functional requirements Ensures on-time delivery of all Engineering deliverables per Ford’s Global Product Development System Utilizes the design space in its entirety to deliver Steering sub-system and component designs that are optimized/efficient, utilize common components where appropriate, and are compatible with mating and adjacent systems Leads Functional/Durability Requirement implementation, validation, and vehicle integration of Power Steering Systems with a focus on ensuring overall safe system/vehicle operation Conducts/Leads design reviews and analysis including system functionality, mechanical hardware reviews, and Failure Mode & Effects Analysis reviews (FMEA) Manages steering supplier to achieve program milestone deliverables for the overall system function Ensures manufacturing processes conform to Ford standards and known best practices Authors and publishes component/system engineering specifications Develops and executes validation test plans and evaluates results to track conformance to part specification Manages cross functional teams to implement permanent corrective actions as well as immediate containment for all issues Generates executive summaries, technical proposals, reports, and presentations for status reviews Reviews existing benchmarking data and obtains new data as required to assure best possible new designs Executes running changes via Engineering Change Request (CR) and reviews/approves relevant Supplier Requests for Engineering Approval (SREA) Interfaces with VO as partners to ensure design for assembly Resolves durability issues Resolves quality issues Conducts vehicle level testing for system validation Leads issue investigations including vehicle data collection and root cause analysis Collaborates with Vehicle Engineering and Driver Assistance Feature Engineers to ensure optimal steering and feature performance
