**Title** : **UKI Statutory Controller**
**Location:** Hungary (hybrid)
**Type:** permanent role
**Global Finance:**
Protecting, delivering, creating, and promoting value, Global Finance oversees accounting, performance management, tax and treasury optimization, and investor relations.
**Primary purpose of the role:**
The main responsibility of a **Statutory Accountant** is to ensure the company complies to all legal and regulatory requirements concerning financial reporting. This involves preparing and submitting financial statements in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and the standards established by governing bodies. The goal is to provide an accurate and transparent overview of the company's financial standing to external stakeholders, including tax authorities, regulators, and investors.
Additionally, the controller will be responsible for coordinating both the group and the local audit processes with our auditor, Deloitte. This role will also need to provide support to our global tax partner, EY for year-end CIT calculations.
**Your role in our mission:**
+ Statutory books: ensure that the statutory books are kept in accordance with local accounting rules by working hand in hand with the local accounting teams. Management of the accounting records concerning fixed assets local book; managing the reconciliation between US GAAP books and statutory books.
+ Preparation of the Statutory adjustment journal entries in accordance with the local accounting rules.
+ Statutory reports and audits: managing of the statutory accounts; leading the statutory audits. Closely operate with the external providers.
+ Responsible for the production of the **yearly disclosure report** for the country and any other add-hoc report requested by the local accounting structure.
+ Identifying and recommending process improvements to enhance the financial statement reporting process.
+ Provide support to investigate and **resolve accounting issues.**
+ Implement, own and improve the **regular balance sheet reviews for local ledger purposes** in the IRM UK entities (regularity of review dependent on importance of country and size of previous accounting issues) and have a special focus on performing & reviewing those balance sheet account reconciliations.
+ Accountable for **ensuring compliance** with IM group accounting policies, local and SOX. Collaborating with and supporting Cluster Controller and Finance Director in ensuring ongoing risk-based monitoring, design, and implementation of effective internal controls for the Cluster locations including those in scope for the SOX.
+ Drive and support the effective operation of **accounting** in the country. Identify any issues and manage resolution.
+ Being responsible and **managing all relations** with outsourced service providers for **Audit & Tax purposes** .
+ Ensure compliance with Local GAAP (with the local 3rd party if applicable).
+ Responsible for preparing the **Statutory Financial Statement** and coordinating the audit both Global and Local.
+ Advise on accounting and tax issues with regard to topics analysed by the Company.
**Valued skills and experience:**
+ Chartered Accountant (CA, ACCA, CPA or local equivalent)
+ Managing a General Ledger close for a large multinational corporation
+ Good understanding of US GAAP and IFRS
+ Experienced in preparing Statutory Accounts
+ Experience working within a matrix organization
+ Proactive self-starter with proven problem solving skill set
+ Experience of working in a shared service environment
+ Excellent communicator with team building skills
+ Independent, proactive and inspires to challenge the status quo
+ Presence of character to command respect and build working relationships at all levels
**Desirable knowledge/ experience:**
+ Exposure to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley)
+ Good understanding of Taxation (particularly VAT)
+ Experience implementing/improving financial processes
+ Management experience including managing employees
+ Remote management skills of a team deployed across several countries
