The Stationary Engineer ensures the efficient operation and maintenance of all equipment in the Boiler Room and mechanical rooms according to established standards. The Engineer performs skilled work associated with the maintenance and repair of equipment and tools in the Boiler Room and mechanical rooms. The Stationary Engineer effectively monitors fire alarms and reports emergency codes to communications. This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to team work and cooperation.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required. 1 year trade school or equivalent preferred.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: New Jersey State Stationary Black Seal In-Charge License minimum required at the City Campus. New Jersey State Stationary Blue Seal in Charge License minimum required at the Mainland Campus. Advanced license preferred. Valid NJ Driver's License required.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 3 years boiler room as a Black Seal In-Charge. Must possess a general knowledge in electrical/mechanical skills. Must have the ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications, as well as manufacturers' instruction manuals. PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Demonstrates the technical competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool. WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury.
Requires ability to climb, ability to lift upward of 75 to 100 pounds, and to work in a strained position some of the time.
