Stationary Engineer

Location: GM Facility, Lake Orion, MI

Schedule: 7-day rotation including weekends/holidays + on-call Compensation: $41.32/hr + shift differential

Job Summary

Join JLL's utilities operations team as a Stationary Engineer maintaining and operating a large industrial utilities facility serving a manufacturing complex. Responsibilities include monitoring steam, chilled water, wastewater treatment, and essential utility systems while ensuring optimal performance, safety compliance, and energy efficiency in 24/7 operations.

Key ResponsibilitiesOperate, repair, and maintain high pressure boilers and steam production systemsManage Trane 1000-ton and 4000-ton Carrier chiller units with primary/secondary pumpsOperate cooling towers, wastewater treatment systems, and resin bed deionized water systemsPerform predictive maintenance (ultrasonic leak detection, thermal scans, vibration analysis)Monitor systems from control room and respond to equipment needsExecute scheduled/corrective maintenance per safety and operating proceduresDiagnose problems affecting facility operations and environmental complianceMaintain detailed records, logbook entries, and support energy conservation measuresParticipate in GM's GMS process and Level 5 BPD BoardsRespond to emergencies and provide shift coverage as requiredRequired Skills

Education & Experience 

High school diploma or equivalentMinimum 3 years utilities systems maintenance and operation experienceFormal training in energy operations, equipment maintenance, or instrumentation/controlsSolid mechanical and electrical maintenance/repair skillsKnowledge of utility systems, steam production, and maintenance practices

Technical & Certifications 

Boiler Operator license (municipality or recognized institution) - RequiredExperience with industrial boiler operations and high-pressure steam systemsKnowledge of chiller systems, cooling towers, and HVAC operationsUnderstanding of wastewater treatment and environmental complianceAbility to read blueprints, technical manuals, and operational proceduresPhysically fit for industrial environment (lifting, climbing, confined spaces)
