Position Summary
Tax Manager – State Income Tax Accounting and Compliance

In this position you will be responsible for the detailed review of state and local income tax positions and workpapers that support the company’s domestic ASC 740 income tax provision and US income tax compliance positions. You will be responsible for the coordination between the company and a third-party service provider which prepares the state and local income tax compliance forms. This position requires a tax professional primarily focused on state and local income tax who has experience in both tax compliance and accounting for income taxes under ASC 740.
How You'll Create Impact Review and prepare workpapers associated with state and local income tax returns and provision including but not limited to quarterly estimates, extensions, payments and refunds, apportionment, credits and NOLs, state modifications including GILTI/FDII/Subpart F, etc.Partner with outsourced service providers to prepare and review state and local income tax filings.Prepare and review key aspects of ASC 740 global income tax provision calculations for quarterly and annual SEC filings including but not limited to GAAP & Non-GAAP effective tax rate, ASC 718 calculations, tax reserves related to uncertain tax positions (ASC 740-10), valuation allowance, forecast of the AETR, cash tax rate, accounts reconciliation, quarterly analytics, journal entries, footnote disclosures, return-to-provision, etc.Assist in maintaining SOX processes and tax reporting calendars to maintain fluid communication between accounting, tax compliance, and tax accounting functions.Identify and implement process improvements to enhance state tax process efficiency and effectiveness, including tax automation and data analysis initiatives.Supervise and train senior tax analysts on various tax assignments.Monitor and research state and local income tax legislative changes to ensure compliance within a rapidly changing global tax environment.Research and advise on state impacts of broader tax planning projects, state transfer pricing and intercompany transactions, state tax savings opportunities, and risk mitigation.Support M&A activity including tax due diligence, post-close integration, and purchase accounting.Manage and respond to state tax notices and provide support on state tax audits and disputes.Engage and collaborate with external advisors where appropriate.What Makes You Stand Out Possess attention to detail and strong organizational and time management skills with ability to drive tasks to completion autonomously.Strong forensic skills, including ability to collect, prepare and analyze data and information to reconstruct, detect, support, or refute a position and ensure that the explanation provided reconciles with the underlying data.Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.Proficient in Excel and data analysis.Experience with tax provision and compliance software.Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting, finance, or related field; Master’s in taxation and/or CPA preferred.4+ years of tax/accounting experience with a public accounting firm and/or a tax department of a multi-national corporation involving complex entity structures and tax issues.Travel Expectations Up to 10%EOE/M/F/Vet/Disability
Expected Compensation Range: $113,407 to $135k plus bonus
