About the Role:
The person will be accountable for managing the General Trade business within the assigned territory. Responsibilities include executing the organization’s strategic plans, driving business development, achieving sales targets, and boosting distributor secondary sales through effective utilization of sell-out tools
What You Will Do:
Overall accountability for driving revenue across multiple Distribution and Retail channels within the assigned states in India.
Lead and manage a team comprising Area Sales Managers, Sales Leads, RSOs, DSOs, and ISPs.
Ensure distributors maintain a healthy ROI and sustainable business model.
Identify and establish strategic partnerships to drive incremental growth, with a strong focus on profitability.
Build and nurture strong relationships with all General Trade distributors and ensure robust retail presence for all Harman Lifestyle SKUs.
Deploy and optimize sell-out tools to enhance secondary sales and maximize ROI.
Monitor distributor ageing and take timely action to ensure healthy inventory movement.
Drive channel expansion initiatives including entry into new territories and development of additional sales channels.
Stay informed about market trends and competitive landscape to adapt strategies accordingly.
Take complete ownership of service and replacement processes across all channels and collaborate with support teams to reduce instances.
Manage sell-out performance and operational hygiene of Platinum and Gold channel partners.
Develop and implement monthly and annual BTL activation plans with a focus on effective, on-ground execution.
Design and execute innovative strategies for secondary sales activations, in-store promotions, and marketing activities.
What You Need to Be Successful:
15+ years of progressive experience in sales and business development across various markets.
Strong proficiency in computer applications such as Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, and Internet tools.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong administrative capabilities and experience in customer interaction and relationship management.
Strong strategic and operational mindset – able to simplify complex information into actionable strategies and execute them effectively.
Deep understanding of consumer behavior – with the ability to develop winning retail sales strategies based on consumer needs and preferences.
Exceptional planning and organizational skills – capable of managing complex projects and timelines required for a global retail operations role.
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills – able to work effectively across functions within Harman and with a broad range of consumer industry partners.
Proven creativity and innovative thinking – consistently bring new ideas and approaches to overcome market and sales challenges.
Solid business acumen with a strong financial foundation.
Bonus Points if You Have:
MBA in Sales & Marketing from a Tier 1 institution.
Proven experience working with global brands.
Extensive background in Sales & Distribution across diverse markets. Preferred industry experience includes electronics manufacturing, consumer electronics, computer hardware, automotive, or related sectors.
Skilled in building strong customer relationships, with a demonstrated ability to identify new business opportunities and negotiate complex deals for mutual growth.
Well-informed about competitor activities and market insights to drive continuous sales improvement.
Collaborates effectively with sales and marketing teams to leverage insights and optimize product launches.
