D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Starts Supervisor. The right candidate is responsible for coordinating all documents required for submitting and obtaining utility and building permits. Oversee the coordination with division departments and external contacts to ensure all building plans and documents are completed by the established date to secure permits to meet the construction schedule. Assist in the management of the Starts staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Plan and direct the activities of the Starts Coordinators, providing support and assistance, train new staff as necessaryResponsible for securing the timely preparation and submission of building permits through various municipalities based on deadlines from construction trench scheduleEnsure the preparation and submittal for check requests for permits, water taps, and impact fees are done on a timely basisMaintain a professional and courteous relationship with municipality departments and staff membersServe as the designated division contact for permits or other issues, respond promptlyVerify the Architectural Review Committee (ARC) and Homeowner Association (HOA) approvals for new home construction are maintained and currentEnsure the newly recorded or purchased lots and building permit information are accurately entered into JD Edwards (JDE) to maintain the construction scheduling softwareVerify all building permits are uploaded to the Vendor Extranet and DRH Network foldersPromote the coordination with the consultants (architect, engineering, soils etc.) for a timely and complete building plan package submissionVerify signatures on change addendums and selections Ensure the distribution of updated documentation on specs, sold specs and new construction regarding mark up plans with changes, selections verified and dispersed to the Construction Department and sub-contractorsOversee the distribution of current construction documents to the Purchasing Department, the Marketing Department and the Construction DepartmentVerify the plan repository and other building documents stored in the Network drive, SharePoint and Vendor Extranet are currentOversee the updating and maintaining the construction status for the Homes in Progress reportSupport the Construction Department performing administrative dutiesInform Division Accounting regarding changes in permit fees, utility connection fees and other municipality feesConducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the companyAbility to work overtime

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)Two years related experience and/or trainingMust have a vehicle and a valid driver’s licenseAbility to focus under pressure and comfortable meeting tight deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detailPossess strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skillsAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applicationsProficiency with MS Office and emailAbility to sit for majority of 8-hour workday; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral visionThe noise level is generally moderate

Preferred Qualifications

Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school is preferredAbility to read and interpret building plans a plusExperience working in JD Edwards (JDE) a plus
