Standardized Patient Educator

JOB SUMMARY

The Standardized Patient Educator is responsible for developing and implementing unique educational instructional and training activities for the SP Program and administering the programs policies and procedures. Educator facilitates medical student activities up to but not limited to exams, schedules and will work from a few different facilities dependant upon the need.

Hybrid - Some days on site, Some days from home

Typical schedule, Monday and Friday from home and Tuesday through Thursday on site.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

\n\nSupervises the SP to include training and instruction.\nEvaluates performance and professionalism.\nInterviews potential applicants.\nPlans and assigns case material and activity involvement.\nIdentifies suitable candidate for SP activities.\nDevelops orientation materials for recruitment and inauguration into the SP.\nOrientates candidates with initial overview of program activities, responsibilities, etc.\nConducts basic skills training for Educators.\nMaintains advanced knowledge and skills of medical information, scenarios and physical exams pertinent to training and education.\nDevelops unique SP educational strategies and tools for SP methodology employed with the Program using advance education and research principles.\nParticipates in mentoring activities and classes provided by the Organization that supports the SP Educator role.\nAnticipates needs of the SP and works in collaboration with the SP Program Director to ensure strong utilization of the SP and available funding.\nParticipates in the preparation of program reports, internal and external funding proposals and scholarship material.\nDevelops and provides a comprehensive report on the status of the SP education and training activities, and reports on problematic issues and concerns to the Program Director.\nCollaborates with the Program Director, faculty and staff on case development and evaluation in developing appropriate case scenarios, scripts and evaluation procedures to be used during SP encounters that are optimized for SP education and training.\nPrepares and presents budget updates based on SP program activities to the Program Director.\nHelps develop invoices appropriate for educational affiliate events.\nRecords Standardized Patient hours training.\nServes as a liaison to the local college and SP Pavilion and Simulation Center during activities involving SP Educators representing the SP.\n\n


KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

\n\nKnowledge of medical education terminology, curriculum, skills and practices pertinent to SP education.\nKnowledge of relevant trends and innovations in SP Education.\nAbility to establish and maintain effective professional relationships across organizational lines.\nMust be able to communicate thoughts clearly; both verbally and in writing.\nExperience with educating in a school setting\nHas facilitated exams\n\n

\n\nEDUCATION - Bachelor's\n\nNot required but Master's preferred\n\n\nEXPERIENCE - 2 Years of Experience\n\nEducation background preferred\n\n\n
