Job Title: Staff Program Manager, Technical
Location: Atlanta
Department: CNN Digital / Product & Technology
CNN Digital is seeking an experienced Staff Program Manager, Technical to oversee and drive the development, release, and continuous improvement of best-in-class processes within our program management office, and drive key initiatives within our portfolio.
As the technical program operations lead within CNN’s Digital Program Management Office, you will collaborate with Product, Design, Engineering, and multiple organizational stakeholders to ensure we have scalable processes to ensure successful on-time delivery of features and enhancements to CNN’s digital products. Your focus will span from planning through execution, ensuring each project aligns with CNN’s strategic objectives, adheres to relevant industry standards, and maintains world-class reliability.
Key ResponsibilitiesOrganizational Workflow & Team Management
Design and optimize workflows that ensure effective collaboration across Product, Design, and Technical teams, from ideation to release.
Collaborate with leadership to identify and solution for their reporting needs by delivering timely, data-driven insight into anything from team performance to executive project status.
Program Leadership & Strategy
Lead end-to-end technical program management for multiple products on CNN’s digital platforms.
Develop and refine program roadmaps, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and user requirements.
Manage internal and external third-party relationships to ensure alignment of roadmap priorities and adherence to SLAs.
Cross-Team Coordination
Own delivery of strategic initiatives from conception through launch. Coordinate with Product, Design, Engineering, QA, WBD shared services, and external partner teams to define requirements, manage dependencies, and deliver high-quality outcomes on schedule.
Promote clear, consistent communication across all project stakeholders.
Drive technical conversations with engineering teams around architecture, solution designs, and testing.
Build strong relationships across different functional groups, influencing outcomes without direct authority.
Governance & Continuous Improvement
Implement governance models with clear sign-off criteria and escalation paths to facilitate quick, effective decision-making.
Conduct retrospectives and post-incident reviews, capturing lessons learned and integrating them into the next iteration of processes.
QualificationsEducation & Experience8+ years of experience in technology or digital media, including at least 5 years in a program management or technical project management role.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or technical experience is a plus.Track record of delivering complex, cross-platform projects in a fast-paced environment.Technical ExpertiseCompetency in at least one modern industry-wide software framework such javascript, html/css, python, typescript, etc.Ability to facilitate technical solutioning and architectural meetings.Project Management SkillsProficiency in Agile/Scrum methodologies, with additional knowledge of traditional project management frameworks.Ability to manage competing priorities, anticipate roadblocks, and orchestrate cross-functional resources effectively.Experience with industry standard project management software such as Jira, Confluence, Asana, etc.Leadership & CommunicationExceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.Ability to adapt communication style and content to suit diverse audiences and objectives, ensuring clarity, alignment, and impact.Demonstrated success influencing teams and stakeholders at all levels without direct authority.Analytical & Problem-SolvingComfortable leveraging data and analytics to drive decisions, measure results, and iterate on solutions.Adept at identifying, prioritizing, and mitigating risks in complex technical environments.Bias to action.
