Staff Systems Engineer

In this position…

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Staff Systems Engineer with a strong background in manufacturing systems integration and software deployment to drive the digital transformation within our manufacturing operations. This pivotal and multi-dimensional role focuses on establishing scalable systems and processes that manage the entire product lifecycle in a digital manufacturing environment – from initial concept and prototyping through to full-scale production. You will be instrumental in bridging the gap between product design and manufacturing execution, integrating complex hardware and software solutions to optimize production efficiency, quality, and our strategic goal of achieving machine-to-build-machine capabilities. This position demands a blend of deep technical expertise, strong leadership, and exceptional cross-functional coordination skills.

You'll have…

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Robotics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. 10+ years (minimum) of progressive experience in systems engineering within a manufacturing environment, with a strong focus on hardware-software integration for vehicle programs or complex automated production lines. Proven experience in defining system requirements, developing system architectures, and integrating complex hardware and software components within a manufacturing or industrial automation context. Familiarity and understanding in software development (e.g., C++, Python, Java) for industrial applications, data acquisition, or control systems. Familiarity with functional safety and cybersecurity concepts as applied to manufacturing systems. Comfortable working at the intersection of hardware and software, including defining specifications and guiding cross-functional development

What you'll do…

Establish and implement scalable systems and processes to manage the full product lifecycle within a digital manufacturing context, spanning from initial concept and rapid prototyping through to full-scale production. This includes defining requirements, architecting solutions, and overseeing their deployment in a factory setting. Coordinate extensively with internal software, data engineering teams, and external factory teams to design, develop, and launch scalable software and integration solutions that effectively address complex business problems within the manufacturing domain. Navigate a multi-dimensional and multi-functional role, comfortably reporting program status and strategic direction to executive leadership while also diving deep into technical discussions with internal engineering teams and external partners. Proactively identify and remove program blockers by effectively coordinating with cross-functional departments including Product Development, Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, IT, Material Planning, and external vendors to ensure smooth project progression. Drive accountability across both engineering and non-engineering teams to ensure that program execution is consistently aligned with overarching business priorities and strategic manufacturing objectives.

You Might Thrive In This Role If You:

Have an impressive track record of leading complex projects from concept to production launch and have the ability to work with cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution of programs in a manufacturing context. Are excited by capturing, analyzing, and identifying root causes in manufacturing that affect product quality. Have experience driving development timelines for new platform introductions and managing internal review processes. Like being a close partner with cross-functional teams to understand key design changes requiring validation and to accurately integrate engineering validation needs into the overall system build.
