It is where our exclusive Max Originals and iconic entertainment brands thrive, with HBO, HBO Max, Warner Bros., DC, Turner Classic Movies, Cartoon Network and more delivering the greatest array of series, movies, and specials for audiences of all ages. HBO Max originally launched in the United States in May 2020 and introduced a lower priced, advertising-supported tier in June 2021. It rolled out globally across Latin America and the Caribbean in 2021, followed by its first European launches in the Nordics and Spain later that year. In May 2023, Warner Bros. Discovery introduced Max, an enhanced streaming platform, in the U.S. HBO Max is currently available in 46 countries and there are plans for the continued global expansion of Max in 2024.

We are looking for a highly skilled individual who takes pride in bringing high-quality code quickly to market, enjoys learning and applying new technologies, provide mentoring to other engineer, and thrives in a dynamic engineering-oriented work environment.

You will work with different encoding solutions and develop diverse solutions to interact and manage these systems, integrating them into our workflows using the latest technologies.

Responsibilities

You have acquired subject-matter expertise over one or more production software systems and demonstrated a pattern of shipping high quality feature changes in that or those system(s).You solve business problems with simple and straightforward solutions, applying appropriate technologies and software engineering best practices. You can lead the design and development of the most complex enhancements involving yourself and other engineers.You have built multiple stable, scalable feature changes that have been successfully shipped to customers in production.Your work and your approach to work are exemplary: you drive best practices and set standards for your team. You are a role model to other teams. Your software contributions in production are the model for highly available, low latency, and efficient software. Your documentation in code, on technical designs, and operations provide clarity to any engineer interacting with your software or its code.You are a collaborative leader that makes other engineers and team members around you more productive, by sharing your knowledge, and helping to tie-break key technical decisions. You provide mentoring to other engineers.You are an effective communicator as exemplified by your technical documentation, and your interactions with stakeholders and adjacent teams. You can effectively represent the technical decisions from your team to senior stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

BS in Computer Science or related field7+ years of technical experience as software developer, or related roleExtensive experience in development on cloud-based infrastructure like AWSExtensive experience developing in at least one of the programming languages: Python, Java or GoHands-on experience in implementing microservices, RESTful APIs, and event driven architecturesExtensive experience with mission critical, 24x7, Tier-1 servicesExtensive experience with high throughput, multi-threaded systemsExtensive experience implementing and consuming large-scale web servicesMastery of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operationsProduct development experience in consumer-focused companiesExcellent Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, algorithm design, problem solving and complexity analysisAbility to work on a diverse teamMust have the legal right to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with video streaming, codecs, video delivery and broadcast workflowsMaster’s degree or PhD in computer science or equivalent

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $145,600.00 - $270,400.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
