The Emerson Test & Measurement Transportation Business Unit Systems R&D team has an opening for a Systems Mechanical Engineer. Our Systems R&D group works on a wide variety of systems and platforms that help automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers develop innovative new vehicle architectures and increase efficiency. In this role, you will work in the design, development, and validation of systems and platforms for automotive customers from concept to release. You will design and develop mechanical components of the system, including enclosures, connectors, racks, cabling, and more!
In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
Support the development of systems, platforms and SW tools from mechanical perspective through release Create/design/model/prototype/test electronics packaging and integration solutions for NI systems Select and approve materials, components, or mechanical solutions for our systems Create building specifications for manufacturing Select, support external vendors and validate the delivered third-party components Provide thermal and structural analyses of systems/platforms Hands on for build and test of prototypes and systems Define and prioritize tasks and leverage resources to complete tasks on time Ensure consistency to development processes and standard methodologies Interact with internal multi-functional teams, and partners in support of designing systems and platforms Contribute to the system/platform configuration SW development

For This Role, You Will Need:
BS degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, or Mechatronics Minimum 3 years relevant industry experience Understanding of fundamental design principles and process Experience with 3D CAD software programs, preferably PTC Creo Solid English communication skills Demonstrated ability to: Persistently drive tasks and projects to successful completion Solve problems effectively Diagnose technical issues and propose effective solutions Work effectively in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment Quickly learn applicable technology, systems, and productsPreferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:
Experience or interest in SW development (any languages) that can be demonstrated e.g. in system configuration tool development Strong sense of ownership and proactive attitude
