**The Opportunity**
The space for disaster recovery and business continuity is vast. At Nutanix, we offer a full suite of protocols and services to satisfy almost every RPO and RTO requirement. But not enough! There are major disruptions that happen in terms of how our control plane works, and how we replicate and expand from on-prem to the cloud. Integration with third-party storage arrays also brings quite a lot of challenges. Here, you would lead major new architectural initiatives around BC/DR and serve as the leader of a big cross-functional team to take your ideas to the market. Management is not what we’re looking for in this position, but someone who can be the intellectual hub around which we can build interesting new products.
**About the Team**
The DR organization physically spans the globe and touches all the other organizational areas within Nutanix. We also end up leading conversations with customers who are trying to figure out their needs for business continuity and with partners who offer backups or act as service providers for the various *aaS.
You will report to the VP of Engineering, who provides strong leadership and guidance for the team. This role is hybrid, based in our Durham, NC, where you will be expected to be in the office 3 days per week. This setup allows for a balance of in-person collaboration and remote work flexibility, ensuring team connectivity and productivity.
**Your Role**
+ Lead technical direction for major projects in DR.
+ Bring vision to how we can scale better, simplify products, and communicate to the field.
+ Tackle problems across the organization, such as redoing the control plane.
+ Work with UX developers, coders, and quality engineers to deliver on the vision.
+ Write blogs and papers, file patents, and attend customer briefings occasionally.
+ Mentor existing and new junior hires to bring them to the next level
**What You Will Bring**
+ Deep knowledge of C++, python, go
+ Experience with architecting new systems and adapting to existing ones
+ BS/MS in CS or a related area, hopefully with lots of experience, 10-15+years
+ Good knowledge of virtualization, networking, and existing storage solutions
+ Familiarity with containers, databases, and cloud
**Work Arrangement**
Hybrid: This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. For most roles, that will mean coming into an office a minimum of 3 days per week, however certain roles and/or teams may require more frequent in-office presence. Additional team-specific guidance and norms will be provided by your manager.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 189,600 and USD $ 380,400 per year.
However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
