Staff Product Engineer, R&D
As a Staff Product Engineer on Stryker’s Medical division R&D team, you will support our Basic Life Support and AED product lines, leading both new product development and sustaining engineering projects. You will act as a project leader, problem solver, and cross-functional collaborator. You will guide engineering teams through planning and execution, mentor junior engineers, and apply broad technical knowledge across systems, electrical, and mechanical disciplines. This is a hybrid role, on-site Monday through Wednesday, with remote flexibility Thursday and Friday. **What you will do** + Lead cross-functional collaboration with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing, and Project Management. + Analyze and resolve complex design challenges by applying technical expertise and understanding of user needs. + Plan and conduct advanced prototyping and testing, incorporating clinical insights and Voice of Customer feedback. + Mentor others in design controls, risk management, and industry standards to ensure regulatory compliance. + Drive creation and maintenance of engineering documentation. + Develop and manage project plans, proactively addressing scope changes, risks, and conflicts to meet key milestones. + Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, quality, and team performance. **What you need** **Required Qualifications:** + Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline + Minimum of 4 years of relevant R&D or project management work experience in a cross-functional teams **Preferred Qualifications:** + Experience working in a regulated environment (e.g., medical devices, aerospace, automotive) + Strong communication skills with the ability to explain moderately complex plans and technical details to team members + Experience developing and optimizing complex mechanical or electro-mechanical assemblies, with a strong understanding of DFM principles **$100,700 - $** **165,100** salary plus bonus eligible + benefits. Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
