Staff Process Engineer- Electrical

We are currently seeking a Staff Process Engineer, Electrical to join our Stryker Instruments division in Portage, Michigan.

What you will do:

As the Staff Process Engineer, Electrical you will provide process engineering support for sustainment and improvement of our surgical instruments, working with Marketing, R&D, Cost Accounting, and Advanced Sourcing, Advanced Quality, and Validation team members.  You will serve as the voice of operations in the development process and work on design for manufacturability and assembly. This position is responsible for process design, development, and validation in new product development. 

Work closely with internal and contract manufacturers to develop processes for electro-mechanical assembly including PCBA manufacturing, potting, soldering, pressing, plastic injection molding, torquing and manual assemblyLead or support capital acquisition activity from specifying equipment, contract negotiation, installation, and validationEnsure quality of process and product as defined in the appropriate operation and material specificationsSelect components and equipment based on analysis of specifications, reliability, and regulatory requirementsWork with quality engineers to develop component specific testing and inspection protocolsAnalyze equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental test and result analysisLead and/or participate in process review meetings.Participate in Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (PFMEA), Control Plan, SOP and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) generation associated with product transfers and launchesComplete capability studies for in process inspection and generate subsequent Inspection documentationReview and approval of validation documentation

What you need:

Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline4+ years of experience in a manufacturing or R&D environment

Preferred Skills:

Understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM), PCBA manufacturing, potting, soldering, pressing, torqueing and manual assemblyExperience in a FDA regulated or highly regulated industryInnovative thinker; able to envisage new and better ways of doing thingsExperience in executing complex problem-solving techniques related to manufacturing/design technical issuesGood instincts and sound judgement for electrical, mechanical and structural designExcellent analytical skills, ability to plan, organize and implement concurrent tasks

Travel Percentage: 10%
