Join our dedicated Pharmacy team at Arnot Health and play a key role in delivering safe, effective, and compassionate pharmaceutical care to our patients. Under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy, the Pharmacist is responsible for the control, distribution, and management of medications throughout the institution, ensuring optimal patient outcomes and compliance with all regulations and standards of practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate and process physician orders, collaborating with medical and nursing staff to ensure appropriate drug therapy
Dispense medications using pharmacy information systems, automated tools, and established safety protocols
Prepare and dispense IV admixtures, TPN, and chemotherapy while adhering to sterile technique and safety guidelines
Manage and dispense floor stock and controlled substances in accordance with state and federal regulations
Monitor patient medication profiles for accuracy and effectiveness
Provide drug information and consultation to healthcare providers and patients
Supervise pharmacy technicians and support their daily functions
Participate in clinical rounds and contribute to multidisciplinary patient care planning
Support the adverse drug reaction (ADR) reporting process
Participate in educational programs for pharmacy externs and maintain professional development
Requirements:
Licensed Pharmacist in the State of New York or eligible for licensure
Strong knowledge of pharmacy operations, drug therapies, and relevant laws and regulations
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Commitment to patient safety and quality care
Preferred Qualifications:
Hospital or clinical pharmacy experience preferred
Previous supervisory or leadership experience is a plus
Physical Demands:
This role requires frequent standing and some light lifting, stooping, and reaching.
