Job Description
As a Staff Pharmacist, you will play a crucial role in overseeing pharmacy technician work, ensuring medication orders and dispensing are accurate and safe. You will review and interpret physician orders, communicate with prescribers, and counsel patients on medication usage. Your attention to detail and expertise in pharmacology will help maintain high-quality standards and compliance with regulations.
ResponsibilitiesReview and approve medication orders by interpreting physician instructions.Identify and address orders that fall outside FDA-approved labeling or guidelines.Provide answers and information to patients regarding side effects, dosage, and storage of pharmaceuticals.Maintain pharmacological knowledge through continuous education and professional development.Ensure delivery of quality products to customers in a timely manner.Collaborate effectively with call center staff and other team members.Provide subject matter expertise to program staff and clients.Maintain established procedures for quality assurance, security, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs.Report prescription errors immediately and adhere to company policy.Supervise and guide staff, providing performance reviews and ongoing coaching.Essential SkillsProficiency in data entry, pharmacy operations, and specialty pharmacy.Experience with prescription review and call-center operations.Customer service skills and experience in retail pharmacy.Knowledge in dosing, dosage, FDA Health Regulations, and Pharmacology.Ability to analyze information and administer medication.Strong judgment, decision-making, and communication skills.Focus on quality, attention to detail, and legal compliance.Additional Skills & QualificationsMinimum of 1 - 2 years of professional experience as a Pharmacist in a retail or specialty pharmacy setting.B.S. Pharm degree required; PharmD preferred.Current and valid Pharmacist state license, in good standing.Proficiency with basic computer programs.Ability to handle multiple requests and ensure timely medication order fulfillment.Work Environment
This position is based in an onsite, closed-door, mail-order specialty Pharmacy. The pharmacy ships medications to patients' homes, dealing with specialty, high-cost, and complex drugs. Pharmacy hours are Monday-Friday, 8am-10pm, with shifts potentially starting as early as 6am and extending to weekends in the future. Onboarding includes a two-day training with additional program-specific training lasting approximately four weeks, during which time no PTO is authorized.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $63.00 - $63.00/hr.
