Gears build team

The Staff Production Engineer will support the DSC gears organization. The position will support drive systems design, producibility and improvements. The Staff Production Engineer understands advanced manufacturing technical principles, theories, and concepts to develop imaginative manufacturing technology on existing or advanced designs, concepts, processes, systems, and tools. The individual possesses unique Manufacturing Engineering knowledge in specialty and advanced manufacturing technical areas.

What you’ll be doing as a Staff Process Engineer on the DSC gears team.

As part of the Gear team, you’ll be working the processes to plan and execute the current and future manufacturing/build of all Bell gears from EMD to full rate production. This position will work across all cost centers to develop and employ the full production plan for DSC. Experience with gearbox fabrication is required.Knowledge of machined part fabrication drives system assembly and install, tool index plans, GDT, CATIA V6, and safety of flight test requirements are required.Able to effectively identify, report and resolve potential safety and quality hazards/risks.Able to develop scope of work, resource estimates, progress metrics, and communication cadence for overall project management to meet mission critical objectives.Able to perform producibility analysis and manufacturing trade studies to determine cost effective solutions to complex manufacturing technical objectives.Works through a disciplined approach in initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing tasks and projects to achieve specific goals to specific success criteria.Work and deliverables reviewed and checked through team leadership, Project/Program management, and Functional management to adequately meet objectives.Mentors and shares manufacturing technology with teammates and colleagues.

Skills You Bring To this Role

Working knowledge of Bell existing/new product development life cycles and prototype production methodologies.Proficiency in MS Office tools of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio Experience working with covered labor force preferred.Ability to prioritize work, strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a team player mindset.Excellent communicator that can build and maintain effective relationships with designers, production centers, suppliers, supply chain, quality, program leadership, and design product teams.

What you need to be successful

Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or relevant/related disciplines. At least 14 years in aerospace manufacturing or related manufacturing industry experience.At least 14 years of Gear, Case and gearbox manufacturing experience.
